June 14.. a little more over a week until I go back to houston!

I have been sooo lazy about uploading pictures on this blog. Anyway, today we presented our
design for an alessi product and our group designed a kitchen cutting board. The design was alright and our critique went pretty well. Afterwards we had a lunch break and I had margherita pizza (delicious). Although the food here is GREAT, I am getting a little tired of eating pasta, pizza, bread, tomato sauce in all its forms. This weekend I am going to Florence and then monday-wednesday I am taking a trip to Venice that should be amazing. I really am starting to miss some things about the U.S... like my car and being able to dry my clothes. I am getting a little sad about our trip ending soon.. I am leaving next week on friday! Anyway, I will enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Triennale Museum

Today we visited the triennale museum in Milan. We saw some pretty awesome furniture and other things that were pretty impressive. We visited a collection of designer furniture that is owned by Paola Colombari, a daughter of the oldest antique dealer in northern Italy. She has so many classic pieces that people in the United States buy for millions of dollars and the furniture was really impressive. On top of visiting the gallery and the museum I was still feeling a little sick and got really exhausted by the end of the day.

weekend: Barcelona Trip

I havent blogged lately because I was not able to upload pictures from the hostel we were staying at. Also, I've been slacking off with the blogging lately (I've had sore throat for two days and I've been feeling a little sick). I did not bring my laptop to Barcelona because I only brought my backpack and it was full enough. Luckily I was able to get online at the hostel computers though.
Our trip to Barcelona was Amazing! Spain is Beautiful in a unique kind of way and I noticed a lot of traditions/customs that were followed by Latin American countries after the Spanish invaded. For the first time I tried a seafood paella in Barcelona and it was AMAZING. So great.. and their ice cream is really good as well. Food in Spain was pretty delicious mostly every where we went. People in Italy are also so much nicer than people in Milan. One negative aspect of Barcelona are its pick pocketers. You really have to watch out for people who are eyeing you watching to see if you are carrying money in your pockets or somewhere easily accessible for them to take from you. The city is also known for its nightly so on saturday night we went out to a club called Opium and it was very fun to go out with everybody that day. The club was on the beach and was very modern. I'm posting some pictures from my trip in this blogpost but just as before I have uploaded so many more on facebook. Ciao!

Day 8: Festa Della Republica

Today Italy celebrated a holiday "Festa Della Repubblica" as a way to celebrate the fall of
fascism in Italy. A lot of stores and businesses were closed but me and two other girls had to
work on a project during the early afternoon and then later during the day
I got to see the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. It was incredible and huge. I never knew the painting actually took up an entire wall in the Santa Maria della Grazie church. It was beautiful and unfortunately nobody was allowed to photograph the paintings so I do not have anymore pictures. Besides, the pictures of the painting online are probably more visible because the real painting is deteriorating and lacks some color.

Day 7: Lake Como/Como City

Today we went to lake Como and it was raining so it was a pretty cloudy day, but I was able to get some pictures. It was very cold and storming most of the day. After 3pm the skies cleared up and the day turned out great. Lake Como was beautiful and so was everything else in the city. More pictures are available via facebook! Ciao!

Day 6: Food is Great here!

For some reason I feel like food here is so much better! Everything is so fresh and incredibly delicious. So far I've had some of the most delicious cheeses, breads, fruits, and vegetables. Italian food is definitely my favorite food and I am afraid I will not like American Italian food anymore. Authentic Italian food is so much better! Today we went to a grocery store and were taught how to buy and ask for foods. It was fun and I took some pictures of things around stores and shops. Red orange juice and soda is soooo good!! I am so obsessed with it.

Day 5

The picture above is the building in which Jaclyn and I live in. I forgot my sd card for my camera, but I brought my camera along with me. Booo. I wasnt able to take any pictures for today because my camera wouldn't hold a lot of pictures without the card.
Today, we did not have class because we only have class from tuesday-friday. We went out shopping for groceries with Jaclyn and then we went out shopping to H&M and some other Italian stores. Life is great. I've had gelato for the past three days and I do not regret spending my money on that. Italians have the best ice cream!!! Today I had tiramisu and chocolatto. Fantastico!
